Circa: 1892 Condition: Fair Type: Hardcover Country of Origin: United States Publisher: John Potter & Co. Phila.,Pa. Pages: 792
The Columbia Cook Book A Complete Home Instructor By Adelaide Hollingsworth Illustrated
Measures 8"x 9 1/2" x 2 1/2" thick.
As with many of the cookbooks from the 1800's this is a massive "compendium" of all aspects of running a household from cooking to flowers, medical, etiquette, nursing and cleaning. It would take hours to read this, but what a wonderful look into the life of a wife and mother in the late 1800's. These books are fascinating.
CONDITION: Cover is dark and worn. Hinges are loose but still attached. Pages are clean, but age discolored and still tightly bound except for the very last page of the index. Overall useable, but fragile, just because of it's sheer size. Nice addition to an antique cook book collection. |
