JOHN MOLL Sandy Point Lighthouse Chesapeake
This is a framed matted (ready to hang) print(?) by John Moll who was an American artist born in 1908 and died in 1991. Frame measures 9 3/4 x 9 inches. The actual artwork that can be seen is about 4 1/2 x 4 inches. It looks to be a drawing. It is entitled, Sandy Point Lighthouse, Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. Signed above the Sandy Point Lighthouse, John Moll. I have a hard time knowing what this actually is, because the frame is sealed in the back. I do not really want to take it apart if not necessary. From what I read about Moll, he is well known for these drawings of the Chesapeake area. Now that he is deceased, the prices are only going to go up. There is glass covering the drawing. Also, the original gallery this was being shown at(which is no longer in existance) is still attached on a paper label on the bottom of the back. The frame seems to be a wood which becomes darker on the inside touching the glass. It has a wonderful feeling to it of the bay,rocks,lighthouse and seagulls in flight. This is a print or original. It is hard to tell. The colors look airbrushed and are brilliant magentas,violet,purples,golds,and more. It is entitled, Spring Flower,Jerusalem. It is signed on the bottom right Dbora or D'vora. There are dried flowers mounted on to the piece. Please see photos. It is matted. The frame is gold with mechanical adjusters on the back in resin. The actual piece does have very slight wave to it near the base. Not really noticeable when hanging. Measures 6 1/8 x 6 1/8 including frame. Very unique piece of signed artwork. Shipping is $4.50 for 1st class,delivery confirmation.
