ELGIN KEY WIND POCKET WATCH,1884
ELGIN KEY WIND POCKET WATCH. This very clean original Elgin key wind was produced in 1884. This watch features a plain excellent condition key wind original case and mint dial. There is also the original key for this watch. The key has a nice pattinae. I do not know if the key can be polished or not. I have not touched it. That is up to you. This watch is an excellent example of what was carried by the common man who wanted the latest in technology of his day (1884). Remarkably clean, running and very much stylish, even today. DIAL: White porcelain single sunken dial with Roman figures and signed "ELGIN NAT'L WATCH Co."
MOVEMENT: 18 size, key wind and key set, full plate gilt with the original factory satin finish, seven jewels, #1,518,947. This serial number dates this movement to 1884. This movement is original to the case and dial.
CASE: Near mint plain polished double hinged back and bezel silveroid (nickel & silver mix) open face key wind original case.
Please note that I have just had this piece cleaned and inspected. It is running and keeping time perfectly. This watch has 3 different sections that open. This is a wonderful collectible!
