Vintage Framed Paper Doll - lace & Ribbons These crafted paper dolls with various materials, lace & ribbons were popular in the 1930's & 40's - an example being the 1930's cut up movie poster (Human Bondage with Bette Davis) that was used to back this picture. This one is a paper baby made up to be in a bassinet. The head & body are tucked into the liner of net covered pink satin with wide pink lace edges - trimmed with blue & pink satin ribbon rosettes & lt. blue satin ribbons. The hands are tucked in & out of sheer white laced edged organdy to look like a dress w/ collar. There is very light blue fading through the lace near top edge as it might have come through from the poster which only gives it a more aged look. SEE PICS! It's original wooden cream w/lt. blue inner edge frame is in good condition w/some paint wear. Overall size is 14 3/4 inch L x 11 3/4 inch W. Complete MICHELANGELO huge FOLIO Superb reference on the Sistine Chapel before the restoration. Thomas Dietrich LANDSCAPE Original painting! Done by famed Wisconsin painter Thomas Mueller Dietrich (b.1912-), the painting itself measures 25 inches wide by 38 inches tall and comes in a quarter-sawn oak frame - MUST SEE PICS! Provenance upon request, but came from the home of a Neenah, WI doctor and is in beautiful original condition. Piece has been well taken care of and kept out of the light for many years, this original oil painting on canvas covered board is a superb Wisconsin landscape of trees above some rocks and executed in a neo-impressionist style that in many ways is reminiscent of the style of WPA artists, like Thomas Hart Benton. An exhibition of Dietrichs work is included - although it does not include this piece, you'll get a wonderful feel for Dietrich's work and why this prolific painter in in many corporate art collections as well as established families throughout Wisconsin - also into the Southwestern United States. {Book is a softcover oblong folio entitled 'Views of Our County: A Thomas Dietrich Exhibition' - from the Outagamie County Historical Society, Outagamie Museum Appleton Wisconsin including an introductory essay by Morgan E. Baird.} The white birch really pop out in the foreground of the picture while evergreens and other tree species form a great atmosphere that Dietrich infuses with almost a cubist (maybe a little Marc Chagall too) sense of space created through light. There's a tremendous sense of depth created by the natural light passing through the forest canopy onto the forest floor and reflecting brightly off the rocks near the foreground (see close-up of impasto work). This painting also has a nice sense of movement that we've found common in Dietrich's work be it watercolor, sketches or paintings such as this.

Beverly Morris SUMMER DUCK 1891 HP engraving This is a wood engraving that has been painstakingly hand-painted circa. 1891 of a 'SUMMER DUCK' a very colorful wood duck that just jumps off the page - MUST SEE PICS! This is a plate from the 1891 book 'British Game Birds and Wildfowl' by Beverly Morris, younger brother of the famous F.O. Morris. The wood engravings were done by Fawcett, who also printed the work. Technically called a chromozylograph - after the duck's been printed then it gets painted to specifications - see close-ups where you can even see some of the brushstrokes! We have three of these prints that came framed with the text section on the bird adhered to the back. 1945 POPEYE Jaymar puzzle VG+ w/ box This 1945 POPEYE puzzle has our hero taking out the bad guy and presumably protecting Olive and Sweet Pea - MUST SEE PICS! Puzzle is in VERY GOOD PLUS condition and comes with an 'as is' box (been silverfished, abraded, etc.). Box doesn't show puzzle, but includes other King Syndicate characters - Terry & the Pirates, Dagwood and Blondi, Dick Tracy and of course Popeye. Superb illustration on puzzle down to the butterfly in the foreground beneath Popeye - there's even Whimpy eating a hamburger! Marquee in the upper right hand corner reads 'Thimble Theatre - Starring POPEYE' with the '45 copyright info in small print underneath. Puzzle measured 13.5 inches tall and 21.25 inches wide. 1933 Celluloid Mother Poem Picture w/ Unique Frame This is a celluloid picture that was made by painting a lovely scene & poem on the back of a thin piece of celluloid. Mother with two children picking flowers amongst the gardens around a cottage home. The sheet is then slipped between a hard cardboard back & a gold w/ blue gesso etched cardboard edging that becomes the frame when those two pieces were glued. Overall size is 4 3/4 x 6 7/8 inches. The back has it's original sticker & a pencil insciption: FROM H TO MOTHER - MOTHER'S DAY 1933. NMINT CONDITION with the only flaw - slight corner wear. COMPLETE Raphael FOLIO thick 1st 69 Complete RAPHAEL folio size book is fifteen inches tall and comes in a protective jacket cover for safe handling/preservation - MUST SEE PICS! Came from a fine art book collection and was kept in pristine shape from day one - very nice and you won't likely find another this fresh in some time. Published by Reynal and Company in 1969 stated FIRST EDITION. This MASSIVE book measures 15 inches tall and a hefty eleven wide, the book is bound in white heavy cloth/canvas which has RAPHAEL deeply embossed in gold! Dust jacket is in NEAR FINE condition as well - NO rips, tears, fades - maybe some faint rubs to extremities, but that would be about it, wraparound illustration is wonderful AND a jacket in this wonderful condition becoming increasingly uncommon. Book also contains nearly fifty (49) color plates and 875 illustration in black and white! It sounds like a lot of illustrations because IT'S TRUE! It is rather astounding and we're still not even done listing them!
