Swedenborg ECONOMY Animal Kingdon 1868 2Vol.
First edition of THE ECONOMY OF THE ANIMAL KINGDOM by Emanuel Swedenborg and translated from his Latin by Rev. Augustus Clissold - MUST SEE PICS! Both volumes of this 2 volume SET are in VERY GOOD condition - the only fault of note is that the first page of Volume One is loose, but otherwise both are in very nice shape - bound in black cloth, spine lettering gilt in blind to spine and ruled covers. Published by T. H. Carter and Sons these books were published in 1868. Swedenborg is difficult to catergorize, a facination in & of himself - this set deals with animals anatomically, physically and philosophically. An uncommon set from a unique author! Swedenborg was one of the 19th Century's great thinkers and advanced metalurgy, neurology and theology. This set is a First thus. being a translation from Latin into English and originally published in 1740-41 (in Latin) - deals with Swedenborg's search for the soul and was significantly advanced for its day. Founder of the 'New Church', Swedenborg is still widely studied today - re: theosophy, pantheism. By today's standard, likely a humanist as well. Book also features lovely floral patterened end-papers (L@@K at PICS!) - a little light wear/rubs to extremities, but overall in very nice shape.
