1940 Eggleston Orchids PINUP Sample Calendar This original MINT sample calendar came from the Joseph C. Hoover Calendar Co. in Philadelphia that closed in the 1950's where we acquired the leftover stock. They used the 6-color print process on glass plates that produced the rich vibrant colors not seen today. A gorgeous pinup is encircled in white fur pinned with 2 orchids. It is Entitled ORCHIDS in the 1940 title leaf booklet. It is artist signed Edward EGGLESTON #5225 - litho in USA - copr 1938 V.P Wright. 1940 EVE Nude Original MINT Photo Print This is an original MINT print that came from the Joseph C. Hoover Co. in Philadelphia that closed in the 1950's where we aquired the leftover stock. This seated reclining NUDE is an aquatone reproduction of a direct color photograph. It is entitled EVE in the 1940 title leaf booklet. Size of print is 12 x 16 inches. 1930's Flapper PINUP Signed Relyet - Old Car This 1930's VINTAGE MINT print came from the Hoover Calendar Co. in Philadelphia that closed in the early 1950's - whose NEW OLD leftover stock we acquired. These prints were made by the RARE 6 color print process on glass plates that subsequently produced the rich vibrant colors not found or achievable today. This 6 x 8 inch untitled print is artist signed RELYET and features some great flapper fashion as the girls leave a (Ford Model T ?) at the beach. 1930's Bradshaw Crandell LADY IN RED Framed This nice print signed by Bradshaw Crandell came from a 1930's calendar & is entitled LADY IN RED. The red looks slightly orange, but many of these old illustrations - depending on the process the calendar co.used - had slight variations in colors with each printing. This particular one is from the Kemper Thomas Calendar Co. - Cinn. Ohio. The 5 x 8 inch print is called 'RIO RITA' and was done by the outstanding illustrator/artist JULES ERBIT.
"During the 1930s-1940s, Erbit's pastel pin-up and glamour calendar subjects featured wholesome, all-American girls attired in conservative clothing. True examples of the girl-next-door, these sedate beauties lacked the strong sex appeal that marked the creations of so many of his contemporaries.
