os1552
Overshot Compote - Circa 1870's. I have a pair of these compotes. If you would want both of them, the price would be $900.00. They were sold to me as Portland Overshot, but through my research, I believe, they were made by Hobbs, Brockunier & Company, Circa 1879. Absolute museum quality and workmanship. High lead content. Resonating tone when tapped witn your finger. All hand blown. Also the compote is fully crackled underneath the overshot. There is hand applied golld trimming along the top and bottom, but some has faded, but not unexpected, because this piece is 120 years old. 7 1/4" tall. 6 3/4" across at the top.

os520bb
Miniature Overshot Pitcher made by Boston Sandwich c. 1870 - 1887. It is crystal in color. It is 5" tall. It has a hand applied reed handle and also has a polished pontil. Excellent condition. Overshot glass is extremely hard glass to come by. It was made primarily from the 1850's to the turn of the century. It was made from many glass houses from all over the world. Most of the overshot glass can be found in the fine museums all over the country. The crystal overshot pictures do not do it justice. They are crystal clear and when the sunlight hits the item, you will not believe how beautiful this glass is. It is also very durable. This glass was basically made by rolling the article into thousands of shards of glass and then reheated and blown into various shapes. If you would like a full explanation on this wonderful glass, please ask me. I have written articles on it, and I will be glad to forward it to anybody who asks for it.
