Lot of early Magazines entitled "The Works of Shakspere" Could not find a date to these but they appear to be from around the late 1800's. Magazines were edited by Charles Knight with illustrations done by Cope, R.A.Leslie, R.A. Maclise, R.A. E.M. Ward, R.A. W.P. Frith, R.A. H.S. Marks, A.R.A. and others. These Magazines were apparently only sold to subscribers. Not exactly sure how many of these there was suppose to be but I have a total of 38 (Parts 1-38). Magazines were published by James S. Virtue 12 Dey St. New York. Beginning of each part (Magazine) has an illustration and then a play itself. As you can probably see the edges to the Magazine are tattered (fraile/brittle) some, however, they are intact. Covers are soiled some as well. Very early Magazines that I'm sure would make a fine addition to any Shakespere collection. Buyer to pay shipping (media) and insurance.
