Darker than Amber by John D. MacDonald A Travis McGee novel...and a great read! About the story: This book starts out faster than any other book I have ever read: "We were about to give up and call it a night when somebody dropped the girl off the bridge." Thus begins the only Travis McGee novel to have been made into a movie. Condition: Good This is in great condition, considering its age. The covers are nic any shiny with a little wear. The pages are yellowed with age, but still great inside. All pages are intact. Fawcett Gold Medal Original Cover Price: 50 cents Copyright Date: 1966 General Information about the Collection All of the books are books that have been read. Some of them are newer editions, priced accordingly, and some of them are more rare. All of them are good reads, but I recommend not opening them past about 90 degrees. Fawcett Gold Medal Books: Many of these books are Fawcett Gold Medal books. Some of them have an explanation in the front that Fawcett Gold Medal books are NOT reprints. The ones that have the explanation usually read as follows: "The Gold Medal seal on this book means it is not a reprint. To select an original book, look for the Gold Medal seal." Therefore, all Gold Medal paperbacks are the first edition in paperback. Some of John D's books were originally printed in VERY LIMITED editions in hardback. Usually, these were limited to 1,000 or so, and they are RARE--sometimes selling for hundreds of dollars. So, a Gold Medal paperback is going to be, at least for most of us, the closest to original that is economically feasible.
