An unusual duo of candlesticks - Doulton, Lambeth, "Silicon". Clay coloured bodies with applied leaves and flowers borders in white, dark blue and pale greeny/blue. Incised drag design to bases. The mark is for 1881-1912. One stick has the incised marks "V" and "LL", the other has what looks like "C" and "oo". One stick is a slightly paler colour than the other, and the white applied decoration is a creamer shade. It is fractionally larger than the other. Possibly not made as a pair, but very very similar. No chips or cracks to either, but the stick with the white decoration has a little of the top white layer missing on the centre stem band - not noticeable, as the colour has remained.
Candlesticks measure 16cm high (6.1/4 inches) and the bases are 10cm (4 inches) diameter. |
