Black Americana Cloth Doll
Black Americana cloth doll. Overall length 26" made of a textured brown to black material that feels velvety. Her head & chest are stuffed, her arms only mildly so. Button eyes & nose, embroidered mouth. One corner of her lips has been "loved" off. There are no tears in the doll body. Her cloth dress is sewn closed at the bottom. She has a long ribbon around her neck similar in color to the edging used at the collar. The dress is torn and has stains on the top and a larger almost tea colored one on the skirt. She is not mint, but there is something so "special" about her I had to have her. A country mustard color. I guarantee you will love her. Black American Black Memorabilia doll dolls Black American

Black Americana Doll by Krueger? Black Americana
Black Americana doll by Krueger. Doll is 14" tall in very good condition. A gift from my hubby 20 years ago. But, we can't keep everything! It's time to downsize. The back of her head is soft, the face is a moded firmer fabric than the nylon covered back as it appears to have been painted. There are a few softer facial lines that show the lighter nylon fabric color Then the eyes & nose were hand painted. The head is sewn to the body. Molded ears, nose, lips, eyes. The torso is two pieces, the arms are two pieces then attached, the legs as well. The sides of her feet have two extra stitches, not sure why. Her hand crocheted hat has a label "Bonny Charlotte NC, her cotton dress has a label Krueger NYC with the K in a blue oval & the registration logo. The dress is in slightly faded but good condition. The dress has attached matching bloomers & fits her very well. The doll was sold to us as a "Krueger" doll 20 years ago. I have yet to be able to locate a doll exactly like her. The only information I have received from a doll expert was that Kreuger dolls referenced in the "Blue Book - Dolls and Values" by Jan Foulke (Hobby House Press) is that American made cloth dolls with painted faces, made from 1880 - 1930 are mentioned but no sizes are given. Kreuger started business in 1917! Values could be between $1000-$2000+ We will consider offers. for Black American dolls. Black Americana doll

Black American Folk Art Pair Adult Ragdolls
Black American Folk Art Ragdolls, the finest examples of folk art I think are handmade dolls. Most Black American dolls were made by Black American women for their children or for the children they cared for. Collectors of Black Americana look for creative touches that make each doll different, each doll a unique creation. This pair have those wonderful hand embroidered features, attached limbs, colorful vintage fabrics, thumbs, and faces made of more than one piece. The Black American woman has one loose red string on her lips, a 1 1/4" open seam right upper arm that's an easy restitch, 1 loose curl, and 1 missing button on her skirt. He has 3 loose curls, small tear in his shirt in the back under his pants. The Black American girl was probably carried by her right arm. Wonderful pair of 13" Black American ragdolls are also unique in the fact they are an older couple, not the more usual girl and boy. Black Americana Rag 27 inch Doll
Black Americana Rag Doll 27 inch doll with braided hair, another unusual feature. Late 40's or early 50's. Eyes, nose, mouth embroidered. This Black American doll is made of soft cotton, machine sewn. Her dress has hand crochet trim around the neck, sleeves, hem & bloomers. Her jumper has double rows of lace trim. She appears to be from a family with some means based on the special features and soft fabric. There are some brown stains on the back of her jumper at the waist & skirt that actually looks like chocolate. I really think they will come out but I never launder original clothing. I would recommend soaking them in Dawn liquid or woolite in cold water. . Priced accordingly. She is a great example of early Black Americana rag dolls.
