Folk Art Handcarved Male Black Americana Folk Art Hand Signed Carved Male Figure Folk art carving 11" tall of a man who's ethnicity is questionable. A Black American gentleman? A French soldier? Then again my "accordian player" at times seems like a kindly old gent perhaps playing on a street corner in an Italian neighborhood in New York. The detail of his body is roughly done, but very deep and textured, the detail in the face and the accordian is wonderful. The accordian actually swivels in his hands! His cap looks military or organizational, but his flashy scarf belies that idea. For all his fine qualities he does have awfully big nose and feet! SIGNED on the base, hand written in pencil. I think it reads "A J Truitt 1924" In ORIGINAL condition, the wood is wonderfull, and the "stories he could tell." folk art

Black Americana Rare Boy Doll Black Americana ragdoll, dressed as a boy, these are much harder to find than girls. This 19" boy also has a brother if still available. Late 40s early 50s creation by a loving mother. Embroidered features, note his eyes turned to the side, and mouth in an "oh oh" look, typical boy! His body is of satiny smooth fabric, his shirt a mauve polka dot with striped tie and green 3 button jacket, he even has pockets, stripe trousers of wool. He has defined heels & thumbs. Threads at the back of the neck are very very slightly open from overstuffing, but does not appear to be progressing, repeat is very minimal, and a small area where the left arm is attached, all limbs are attached. There's a small area of thread missing on the back of the jacket, a brown stain on the back of his left leg. Black Americana doll dolls ragdolls Black Memorabilia

Black American Boy & Girl Dolls Black Americana folk art, homemade Black American boy and girl dolls. They have cousins #429. Dated 1935-1945 as seen in PJ Gibbs 1993 book "Black Collectibles Sold In America" These doll patterns were sold to American mothers, These four Black American dolls seem to be of the same pattern, each with their own creator's charm. This pair of dolls are 16-17"s tall. Adorable hand embroidered faces, even little seems on the sides give them "chubby cheek" looks. Sought after features by collectors of Black American dolls: embroidered features, details like cheeks, thumbs, even embroidered toes, hair sewn very well, even 1 pigtail on the Black American girl doll. Attire attributes: embroidered dress design, trim, apron. Black American dolls great condition, their only flaw are slightly limp necks, that occurred when the dolls were carried over a child's arm, and the head if not stuffed enough began to tilt over.
