Black Americana Vintage Linen Tea Towel Black Americana linens are difficult to find in good condition. This one is in very good condition, laundered gently. No stains, no rips. The towel is 26" long and 15 1/2" wide. Each end has a wonderful Mammy approximately 8 1/2" tall carrying a tray of 3 steaming bowls of soup or other hot broth. She appears to be singing as noted by the musical notes above her left shoulder. The scarf is pink with yellow the pink is carried over to the tray beneath the bowls, Her top is green with white polka dots, yellow long skirt and burgandy apron ,she carries a pink towel in her left hand, She is wearing black shoes. Along the side borders are 6 individual bowls of steaming broth. The bottom edges are trimmed in two rows of green and one burgandy, above that is a row of green circles. Black Americana Tea Towels Pair Black Americana linens in good shape are difficult to find, but to find a pair is rare. This set was laundered gently using approved techniques for old linens. These towels were made with quality fabric, hems hand trimmed. The couple are appliqued. For the younger generation, that's a technique of sewing bits of fabric onto the linen to create design, the edges are then hand sewn on creating a dark brown outline. The Mammy is overall approximately 8" in height and 6 1/2" wide at the apron. Her scarf is bright red, her dress yellow with white collar, and cuffs and apron. Her shoes are brown. She carries a browned turkey on a white platter. The Chef is also overall approximately 8" tall but the smoke from his turkey extends up approximately another 3". Overall approximately 5" at the widest. He has a balding head, what hair he has left is white. He wears a red fancy butlers jacket with white standup collar and cuffs and buttons done in french knots. His pants are yellow with a dark brown side seam and brown shoes. He is also carrying a white tray with a steaming turkey. No stains, no holes a wonderful set of linen tea towels. Black Americana
