Inside the covet : Collector's Item Famous Songs Of Bert Williams Four records in album set C-25. Bert Williams died in 1922. But as long as songs are sung, Bert Williams will be remembered as the humble comedian from the British West Indies who taught millions of Americans to laugh and kings to Cake Walk. Columbia Records proudly presents an album of eight songs re-recorded from the old masters. World-famous for his homey philosophy and gentle humor. These songs which he had written to order for himself, reflected and magnified the spirit of the post-war erea in American life. Prohibition was one of his favorite themes. The Moon Shines on the Moonsine and Everybody Wants a Key to My Cellar were Bert Williams hits to kid the prohibitionists of that day. How These Records Were Made in a recording session sometime in the early Twenties. At the small end of the recording horn was a French plate glass diaphragm to which was attached a stylus lever supporting a recording jewel. This cut the vibrations of Bert's voice into a disc of soft wax previously heated so that it would take clear impressions of the lateral movements of the cutting jewel. These songs have been re-recorded from the original masters were unearthed in the files of the Columbia Recording corporation. The four 78s are in excellent condition. Awesome set, appeals to collectors of vintage records and Black Americana, Black Memorabila.

Ocean City Reel Box Advertising Montague Rods Vintage reel in near mint condition. I don't think this reel has ever had line on it, white bakelite handle. Small area of corrosion that can be cleaned off. Accompanied by box and AD in fair to good condition. The box is approximately 5 7/8" wide 3 1/2" high and almost 4" deep. The box is intact the lithography is very readable the top states Ocean City Mrg. Co. Phildelphis 34, U.S.A.
There is wear and staining on the top. Back and front state "Ocean City Best In Fishing Reels" and also show wear, the worst spot is a missing "O" on the back, both sides show the fish within the circle. The ends state "Ocean City Best in Fishing Reels. No. 980 Salt Water Reel Triple Multiplying 150 yd. size". Most unusual is the paperwork is still with the box and reel. One side of the advertising is a 4 page foldout that shows 4 other reels salt, freshwater, bait casting & fly reels and an advertisement for Montague rods the "Ideal Companions for Ocean City Reels" the other side is information about reels and notes on the care and "feeding" of reels again for salt water, bait casting and fly reels. There is a clean straight tear on the last of the 4 fold out pages but is completely intact otherwise. The paper is slightly crisp. fishing reel

Advertising Art Primitive Cartoon Bar Sign Advertising Folk art or Advertising, it's a hard call. This wood framed cartoon is 15" across, 10 3/4" tall.. At the top it says" Bar-X- Ranch". Under that it says " We serve Brown-Forman famous Kentucky whiskies. On the mirror is printed "Bottoms up" "Early TImes" "OLD FORESTER" There are 5 people sketched, the little man on the left has an arrow leading to his head that says "Little Sammy" the bartender "Jim" next "Bert" then "His Royal Highness President Morris" and lastly "Hook". The bottles on the bar are marked "Old Forester, Bottom Up" The register says "No Sale" the title below the men says "Waiting for a Live ONe" and under that "If Ed McGettigan would only pay his dollar." By the dog in the lower rights it says "mascot". The picture to the left is a boxer, below it says "Skip McSorley" and on the right under the woman on the calender "Floor show". From the frame and the masonite backboard that may have been added later, I am guessing this is from the 40s, or early 50s and likely hung in a bar where the patrons Jim, Morris, Hook, Bert & Ed hung out. Thre is some yellowing or browning around the edges of the picture, from age? smoke? or possibly just dirt that could be removed, it doesn't look out of place tho on the type of paper, we've enjoyed its humor in our home "as is". on the back is a typed paper that states "103rd headquarters Troop Club Newton Square Penn. Edwin Blair joined in 1939" cartoon art primitive folk art barware
