Black Americana Cloth Doll Black Americana cloth doll. Overall length 26" made of a textured brown to black material that feels velvety. Her head & chest are stuffed, her arms only mildly so. Button eyes & nose, embroidered mouth. One corner of her lips has been "loved" off. There are no tears in the doll body. Her cloth dress is sewn closed at the bottom. She has a long ribbon around her neck similar in color to the edging used at the collar. The dress is torn and has stains on the top and a larger almost tea colored one on the skirt. She is not mint, but there is something so "special" about her I had to have her. A country mustard color. I guarantee you will love her. Black American Black Memorabilia doll dolls Black American

Black Americana Rag Doll Black Memorabilia 24" Rag Doll. Black American Folk Art. Late 1940s or early 1950s. Attached & arms. Knees are stitched to allow her to sit on a shelf or dresser. Her feet are pink, slightly soiled. Felt features, navy blue not black yarn, an unusual twist. Her clothes are also machine stitiched, I suspect her white bloomers are a later addition. She was made to resemble Raggedy Ann & her Black American friend Belindy. My guess is she was stuffed with rags as there is an occasional bumpy feel. Black Americana Hand Puppet Black Americana Hand puppet appears home made in late forties or early 50's. The face is similar to those Woolworth's 5 & 10 cents stores sold for the home maker creating puppets or toys for her children. About 13" tall in used condition, there are area on hat & outfit where red fading occurred.
Red & white felt collar, peaked clown hat. The cloth is showing signs of aging, some fading of the red as shown in photos. Tiny tiny holes in the felt collar, that occurs from age as well. I am hopeful a dry cleaner could remove the stains.. Black Americana

Black American Folk Art Ragdoll Black American ragdoll, quality folk art, made with love. Black American women made these dolls for their own children, at times for those they cared for. Quality features sought after by Black American doll collectors are in abundance on this doll: finely embroidered lips, a "heart" shaped set of lips, face sewn from several pieces, creating a softer face, french knot nose, thumbs, attached arms & legs. Her ankles are slightly stained from her years of wearing her cute rubber shoes. The maker of this Black American doll, actually made the doll to fit the shoes! Addition of rick rack & matching grosgrain ribbon indicate clothes made for this Black American doll were made from the employers pricy hand me downs. Her only flaw is a very tiny white 1/8th spot on her left cheek, might have been a small paint splash. Black Americana, Black Memorabilia, dolls, ragdolls, Black Americana

Black Americana Doll by Krueger? Black Americana Black Americana doll by Krueger. Doll is 14" tall in very good condition. A gift from my hubby 20 years ago. But, we can't keep everything! It's time to downsize. The back of her head is soft, the face is a moded firmer fabric than the nylon covered back as it appears to have been painted. There are a few softer facial lines that show the lighter nylon fabric color Then the eyes & nose were hand painted. The head is sewn to the body. Molded ears, nose, lips, eyes. The torso is two pieces, the arms are two pieces then attached, the legs as well. The sides of her feet have two extra stitches, not sure why. Her hand crocheted hat has a label "Bonny Charlotte NC, her cotton dress has a label Krueger NYC with the K in a blue oval & the registration logo. The dress is in slightly faded but good condition. The dress has attached matching bloomers & fits her very well. The doll was sold to us as a "Krueger" doll 20 years ago. I have yet to be able to locate a doll exactly like her. The only information I have received from a doll expert was that Kreuger dolls referenced in the "Blue Book - Dolls and Values" by Jan Foulke (Hobby House Press) is that American made cloth dolls with painted faces, made from 1880 - 1930 are mentioned but no sizes are given. Kreuger started business in 1917! Values could be between $1000-$2000+ We will consider offers. for Black American dolls. Black Americana doll

The best of folk art, these dolls were generally made by the mother for her children, or for the children she was paid to care for. He is probably from the late 40s or ealy 50s. Often price is determined by "additional" features such as the fact he has a thumb. He is made of cotton and felt feet that need a "fuzz buster" his yellow pants appear to have some acrylic fibers so likely early 50s. His curls are of black yarn and his white cap is a bit dirty and nappy. His facial features are wonderful, hand embroidered with an unusally big red grin and big eyes with added features.
