In India both clockwise and counterclockwise swastikas were used with different meanings. The Swastika did NOT originate as a Nazi symbol of hatred! Rockingham glaze embossed with a two inch Swastika symbol on each side. There is a banding of smaller designs of the same Swastika symbol at the top of the pitcher, and at the base. These are 1/2 inch symbols that surround the entire circumference of the pitcher approximately 30 in number. Near Mint condition pitcher, one small worn area (not a chip) on the glaze on the outside rim of the spout near the handle. The swastika is a simple symbol it has been used by many human societies.
