Celluloid Christmas Decoration. Celluloid animals were made by German, Japanese and American companies circa 1915-1940. They were placed in putz or Nativity scenes. This cow 4 1/8" long 2 1/2" in height is in very good condtion, there is a pin prick flaw on his underbelly. His colors are varying shades of tan and a ruddy pink. Celluloid is flammable. When listed there were 4 animals on our site. Each has the name "Eugene" penciled on the underbely. These were often the only toy gift given to children during the holidays, so this was likely Eugene's way of telling his from the other children in the family. |
