Rockingham animal figures. These rarest among this collector field limited to the nineteenth century, some were made in England in the mid 1800's. None are considered common. All had some type Rockingham decoration. Many made in East Liverpool. This dog appears to be a pug, stamped Germany on the base. Unlike American Rockingham the clay on the base is white and has the feel of bisque however the rockingham is typical of American glaze. Approximately 6 1/2" long and 2 1/4" tall not including his fuzzy tail, that can be removed. The McAllister book also states " None of them are common, expect damage on the base." There is NO damage on this cute guy, no cracks, no dings and no hairlines.
