Black American Rag Doll. Rare that this Black Americana doll in depicted not as a young boy, but as an older male. Typically familes were rare, generally occuring post civil war dolls. Black Americana handmade Folk Art. Features sought by Black Memorabilia & doll collectors are " Thumbs, and the rare fingers, the embroidered facial features. The Black Memorabilia dolls were generally only made by Black American mothers for their children, or at times, for the children she cared for. Cloth dolls make from recycled clothing scraps. There was "just enough" black fabric for his face & hands,his stuffed body & arms are a creamy color sack cloth. He has button eyes. The black body fabric is satiny which accounts for the much loved neck, there is a 1 1/4" x 1/2" tear.
