Toleware beautiful folk art. Purchased in Lancater County Pennsylvania, this handpainted toleware basin was painted black on the outside, the inside is more an orange than red color. Hand painted flowers decorate the walls inside the basin, I think the flowers are light white clematis & vines. The basin is not dated but I think likely from the 30s or 40s. perhaps much earlier. The basin is 12 1/2 in. long 8 in. across hgt varies to 3 1/2in. The paint is intact & gorgeous. An apple tray 7 1/2" x 12 3/4 in.recently sold at Garths auction for $2,875 maybe you will get lucky.
