Black Americana Boy and Girl Rag dolls, folk art at its finest. These Black American dolls are approximately 17 " tall. Black Americana rag dolls were made by mothers for their children or by caretakers for tots they cared for. Fine example of folk art Black American dolls, extremely well made. They have black yarn hair & features sought by collectors of black American dolls: great embroidered features, they have beautiful eyes & embroidered toes. Her red checked dress wearing an organza apron and cotton drawers. Her aproin has an added touch of a big collar in the back. He has a bright yellow shirt, neckerchief and blue overalls. We have another set almost identical listed here, they were dated 1935-1945 as seen in PJ Gibbs 1993 book "Black Collectibles Sold In America" . See their cousins #429.
