Hand Painted Teapot Cooler. Ceramic / Stoneware. Probably American. Probably early 20th century. Very unusual. A marvelous cooler shaped like a very large teapot! The decoration shows a fellow in a hat & overalls sitting on the bank of a small stream, fishing. Perhaps he’s sitting in the shade of the tree behind him. There’s another tree on the opposite bank.

| This charming scene is hand painted in soft shades of blue. Trim on lid border & finial and on spout is a darker blue. The ground color is a warm light gray. And the spigot works! But the rubber sealing ring needs to be replaced: it leaks. Although the cooler is quite heavy (more than 10 pounds), you can pour out the liquid through the spout just like a regular teapot. CONDITION: Good (all over crazing; some pitting from manufacturer; small chip on the spout tip; re-glued crack on spout near tip). Displays very well. Perfect for iced tea. Wonderful item. Really cool! |
