This unique piece is pictured and referred to in the Mexican Jewelry book by Mary L. Davis and Greta Pack - 1989. It refers to the design as pre-Hispanic, which most likely is Mayan. It also mentions that the artist is unknown, as is this case. Each side of the pendant has definitely different early designs. The birdlike figure is presented on a background of crushed inlaid green turquoise which enhances its charm. The beautiful well made linked chain measures about 21 in. long. The entire piece weighs 62 grams, and is in very good condition.

The individual hinged links are about 1-1/4 in long x 7/8 in. high, while the entire bracelet measures about 7-1/4 in. in length. Marked Sterling. In very good condition and weighs 27.5 grams.
