PAIR OF 50s PSEUDO-CHINESE BRASS LAMPS 24x10" Pair of 1950s pseudo-Chinese brass lamps. Large lamps, in heavy-guage brass, the details on the sides depict lovely flora. Wooden bases. Nice pattern on the screws to hold the shades. Excellent condition. Unmarked save a sticker on one reading "11/87."

Karl Springer (1930 – 1991)
German born, French educated New York City based Springer is known for his lavish interpretations of Art Deco lines and the use of exotic skins and materials. His style encompassed the gamut from French Art Deco, to Asian and African motifs. His proficiency in materials is second only to his prolific designs, often customized for each client. Karl Springer is synonymous with quality, encouraging his workshop to strive for excellence rather than quick turnaround. His designs were executed in wood, metal, lacquer and lucite, with many of his most recognizable pieces covered in leather, parchment, shagreen, horn or reptile skins. The outstanding quality of his furniture has lead to a strong secondary resale market for Springer's designs with all major auction houses and 20th century dealers now offering his work.
 

Artists 50's copper & enamel, cloisonne lamp 31x15x8" with shade, base, 16x12x5" Made by the famous Canadian Coppersmith, Albert Gilles. It it has flanking copper panels, sculpted with fine copper wire, hand painted & glazed. The front panel, a Chinese goddess floats on the clouds with a bouquet of flowers in her bosom. The rear, a large bird stands on a flowering tree. They are mounted in a mahogany frame, with brass standoffs. The shade, is copper with fiberglass panels. Marked, "Made in Canada" "Albert Gilles Copper Shop"

Eugenio Pattarino Italian Art Deco Lamp 8.5 x 11 x 14" Art Deco lamp by Italian master, Professor Eugenio Pattarino, famous for his terracotta sculpture. His inimitable style recalls fellow Italians, Gambone and Fantoni. The lamp is decorated with scenes from Mardi Gras featuring colorful characters rendered in Pattarino's trademark precise detail and hand-painted, high-key glazes.

Famous 20th century ceramicist Eugenio Pattarino--1885-1971-his works were passed out by the Vatican as gifts to famous visitors like JFK--Andre Gide, Sarte and Edith Piaf were some the more famous who collected his work-most Pattarinos in the US were brought in by well-healed American tourists who bought them in Florence-- a large 8 foot Madonna by Pattarino is in a chapel in Lady of Angel Cathedral in Los Angeles----for years Pattarinos sculptures were marketed from a shop in Florence on the shoulder of the river Arno--several years ago shop was washed away in a flood along with records, sculptures and any forms--so Pattarinos sculptures have become rarer and rarer--this finely detailed 14" inch sculpture is glazed terra cotta and is signed- perfect condition--has great color and movement.
