Antique Chinese Carving, Holy Man. 8x8x23" Early 20th Century cherry wood carving of a holy man with page or admirer. The young man hands the smiling holyman a peach blossom branch, & a glass eyed bird in his right hand. Both figures have what appear to be carved bone teeth, the old man has one glass eye. Has some natural aging cracks, the base crack is stabilized. Generally a great piece.
 

RARE XIANFENG ROSE MEDALLION LIDDED VASE 14x9x9" Rare in form, monumental in size, a vintage Rose medallion lidded vase. This piece has beautiful birds of paradise, butterflies, fruit, gorgeous flowers, a fine example of mid 19th century Chinese porcelain. It also has the six character Xianfeng reign mark (1850-1863). The imperial kilns were destroyed during the Taipei Rebellion in about 1850 and not rebuilt until Xianfeng was dead and the Tongzhi emperor took his place. Hence, not a lot of mark and period Xianfeng porcelain is around. I cannot say with certainty whether this is mark & period or not. It is however, a very well done & detailed piece. Pristine condition.

PAIR QIANLONG STORY VASES 12x4.5x4.5 First 1/2 20th century, Qianlong marked, cream white porcelain story vases. "Dreaming in the Red Palace" As I understand it, the classic story is about a heart broken poor girl (jade girl) , longing , heartbroken on a late spring night, for the "fragrance" of her aristocratic heart throb, as his class peer future wife, waits. Beautifully executed piece, with delicate features, subtle shadings, & scraffito glaze outlines. A fine, fine pair. Pristine condition.

PAIR EARLY 20th CENTURY CHINESE EXPORT VASES 18 x6.25" Possibly late 19th century, probably early 20th Republic. Beautifully painted, slightly unusual, theme seems to be friendship, or wine merchant. Gilt decorated, pinched & flared rim, with gilt applied flora on the neck. Mark translates to "wine". Unmarked export vases.

18th century Chinese Vase 8.5 x 13.25" Large & heavy, brown glaze, redware, with 4 panels. three with butterflies, & one appears to be a rice or wheat stalk. Estate piece from a collector of Oriental pottery. Identified as 18th Century . There is a subtle press rolled, almost herringbone design just under the shoulder. Top opening about 3.25". I did find a barely visible hairline thru the bottom of the stalk, curving left about 5". It does not show on the interior of the vase. If you can help me identify this vase, please do.
