8x8x1.25" A strangely & finely painted asparagus serving dish. The center bottom has has five dimensional asparagus, over painted with fish. One I recognize as a puffer. The side trays are scalloped, & over painted with both a fish & shellfish. Marked "Tashiro Zo," or can also read "Tashiro Tsukuru." Both mean "Tashiro Made." The company, called Tashiro Shoten, Ltd. was active from the Meiji period up to 1954. This one is pre 1920, so a trasitional piece. Made for the Japanese market. |
