A wonderful portrait on ivory of an older woman wearing a blue robe trimmed in ermine over an umber dress. She is wearing an unusual necklace as well as a jewel in her hair. The portrait is marked "Fr. v. Stampart" for Frans van Stampart above the right shoulder of the sitter. The oval painting is 4 1/4" by 3"and is mounted in a brass frame with easel back.
