Condition: in good used condition. Nice patina

Age: Thought to be mid-20th Century

Markings: None

Vintage India Figural Brass Letter Opener

Size: 8¾ H x 1 W

Condition: very good - nice patina

Weight: 2 Oz's.

Markings: INDIA incised on the back of the blade. Interesting Indian male bust forms the handle. The back of the blade is smooth. The back of the handle indented with the form of the outline of the bust.

From the private collection of a person who traveled extensively in India.
 

Vintage Greek Figural Metal Letter Opener

Size: Closed: 9 3/8 H x 1 (at the hilt) x 2/8 D

Condition: very good - metal wear on the blade showing a brass metal under the silver-tone.

Material: Silver-toned Metal nonmagnetic

Weight: 4½ Oz's.

Markings: ATHENS embossed on one side of the blade

This letter opener has a figure of a woman in native dress carrying a jar on her head.Nicely detailed.

Found at an Estate Sale in Pennsylvania  

Exquisite Figural Austria Letter Opener

Vintage Girl in Bonnet Brass Letter Opener

Size: 8-1/4 H x 1 W. - Finial: 2 H

Condition:Good to Very Good. The tip of the letter opener has a small bend at the bottom. There are some small nicks to the metal and a little wear consistent with age. The patina and the detail on this is excellent. Please note that the color of the brass is muted by the patina. The bright brass color of the photo is from the lighting needed to photograph. If you wish to brighten the piece you would have to polish it. But that would take away the patina.

Weight: 12½ Oz's.

Material: This is either brass or brass finished. Markings: None

ART NOUVEAU METAL FIGURAL LETTER OPENER.
Size: 10-1/2 Inches in Length x 2 Inches W at the Hilt. A wonderful Dagger Form with lots of character and a lovely lady's face with flowing hair on both sides of the letter opener. Condition: Good. Nice patination. There are worn spots & small scratches on the metal. The letter opener has had plenty of wear and looks its age. The handle is cast at a jaunty angel. This is the way it was made. I have another identical piece which was made the same way. The metal is probably spelter with a brass finish.

A Pewter Colored Metal. The bottom portion is either steel or iron. The top metal is unknown.

Size: 8 Inches High. The Hilt is 1-3/8 Inches Wide.

Condition: Very Good. There are a few minor nicks on the blade.

A good weight to this. Approx. 5 ounces.

A very handsome and unusual piece.  

Art Nouveau Advertising Letter Opener - Highton Registers & Grilles - New York, Boston, Philadelphia

A good looking metal letter opener with an exquisite female head with flowing hair at the handle.

The back of the piece has the wording embossed WM.HIGHTON&SONS.NASHUA.N.H.

Size: 8-¾ inches L x 1 inch W at the top of the handle.

Weight: Approx. 4 oz.

Metal: Possibly brass

Condition: Very Good. Some wear consistent with age.  

Art Nouveau Bronze Page Turner - Late 19th Century or Early 20th Century

Condition: Very Good.

Size: Approx. 9-1/2 Inches in Length x 1-3/4 Inches at the Widest Part of the Head.

Weight: 7 ounces.

This very attractive Art Nouveau has the classic style of a woman with flowing hair which extends along the turner for about 3 Inches. The woman's head is detailed on both sides as is the flowing hair. One one side of the turner there are the numbers 1623 stamped.

The patina is great! There are a few darker colorations on the turner which I have tried to show in the photos.

A very unusual piece and an excellent attractive addition to a desk or collection.

Metal Head (Pewter?) with Wooden Flat Blade.

Age: 19th Century.

Size: 13½ L - Head is 2 W x 2½ H. Blade is: 11 L T x Approx. 3/4 inch W.

Condition: Good. There is wear on the blade consistant with age and use. The head is I believe solid Pewter? There are markings in the metal either from use or in manufacture.

Origin: England.

The face is of an angry man with an insect on his forhead. I would guess that this had some significance at the time it was manufactured. The head is solidly attached to the blade.
