The first flight of a hot air balloon took place in 1783.
On September 19, 1783, in Versailles, the Montgolfiers flew the first passengers in a basket suspended below a hot-air balloon—a sheep, a rooster, and a duck.

Condition: Fair - The structure itself is in good aged condition. The Cords (string), rope and anchor are also in good aged condition. The weights that were originally attached to the cords(strings) are all missing except one round metal piece. The base has a red felt like material which is in good condition.
Markings: there is a brass colored plaque attached to the base which reads MONTGOLFIER Paris-In 1783
