| Wonderful High Art Deco period necklace, a choker consisting of a triptych of molded plastic/bakelite on a chain. The three plaques are bolted to frames (white gold fill on brass?) which are hinged together, and have black champleve enamel points surrounding them, and further, dangling REAL JET ornaments. The plaques were originally black, but have some wear places to the underlying red, and further to an ivory white at a few tiny points. The chain is a bit asymmetrical and may have had links removed to fit a SMALL neck--I think no more than 15 or 15.5". The central motif measures 4" across the top, chain to chain, and 3" from the center top to the bottom of the central drop. This is a VERY unusual necklace; I've not had another like this in the 30+ years I've done jewelry. Enamel, plating, beading all perfect, everything original and authentic to the late teens or early 20s. Marked MADE IN FRANCE on the obverse. |
