| BRACELET, PIERCED EARRINGS AND RING in married metals utilitizing Pre-Columbian jade bits. The matching necklace appears in a recent Mex Silver book and belonged to LadyBird Johnson. Everything on these is made to swing freely and has a great deal of weight. I've scanned the backs on these to give you some grip on construction methods. The jade rosette on THE BRACELET is 1.25" in diameter; the swinging tassel measures 2.5" from swivel point to the bottom, and 2" from side to side. The bracelet is .75" wide at the front and it's side-to-side/across-the-wrist measure is 2.5". THE RING has a 1.5" jade rosette and measures 2" overall diameter including the tassel. It is a size 6, and CANNOT conveniently be sized up or down--except by a skilled silversmith! Additionally, it is probably missing 2 drops, one from either end of the fan-shape. THE EARRINGS have a 1" jade rosette, a jade bird that is just a tad smaller, and measures 3" from top to bottom. They are MISSING their original clutchbacks. The POST is marked 14K and is white gold. The bracelet and ring are both marked LOS CASTILLOS and MADE IN MEXICO (the bracelet 3 times!); the ears are not....and although they have a great deal of silver, because of the other metals they are not marked silver/sterling. Because of the pierced earrings, I date this set to the 60s/70s...though it may be earlier and the earrings converted.... |
