Alice Harmon Shaw (1913-1994; Cape Elizabeth, ME) Portrait done in colored pencil (13" xz 10"). Pencil- signed and dated ("March, 1934"). Listings: Dav; WWW. Other early drawings by this artist are also available. Raised on a farm in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Alice Shaw put herself through the Portland School of Art (now the Maine College of Art). While there, she came under the influence of its director, Alexander Bower, who urged her in the direction of watercolors, for which she is best known today.

Elizabeth Rea (b. e. 20th C; San Diego, CA) "Male nude study"; sepia ink drawing; signed LR. Unframed; in 20" x 15" matte (visible area = 13" x 9"). British-born Elizabeth Rea has worked in many media including graphics, acrylic, watercolors, lino-cuts, etchings, drawings, pen/inks and collages. She studied with with Harry Steinberg at the Idylwild School, University of California at Berkeley. She later was a student at the University of California at La Jolla, California and also received instruction in composition from Alma Carlin. Residing in San Diego County, she has enjoyed successful one-woman shows. Her art is in private collections in England, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong and the USA.
