Janos Viski (1891-1965; Hungary)
The conversation: oil on canvas (16" x 19½"). Listing: Dav. Born in Szokolya, Hungary, Viski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under the guidance of Tividar Zemplenyi. He made study tours to France and several towns of South America and began to exhibit his paintings in 1913. He painted mainly animals, being deeply affected by their movement and character, and was interested in the problems of motion and form as well as the color effects of open air light. His most frequent model was the horse. His art emerges from natural forms, and his paintings display individual strength with an impressionistic effect. Other works by this artist are also available.
