American Late Classical Secretary Bookcase. A fine Gothic secretary bookcase in two parts of highly figured mahogany, the upper section with a projecting cove-molded cornice over a pair of mullioned doors. The nicely fitted interior with a pair of shelves over a central door flanked by a bank of three drawers, with a notation " This secretary made by my father Edwin Cushman in 1834 when he was 22 years old." Cornelia Cushman Dean of Plymouth, Mass. Height 73", width 42", depth 18 1/8".
