Rare 1st First edition of this important work by the noted American illustrator and founder of the Brandywine School, training ground for such important illustrators as Maxfield Parrish, N. C. Wyeth, Jessie Willcox Smith, and Frank Schoonover. Hard cover embossed leather(?), spine missing, page edges tinted red, 296 pages. Cover and binding in poor condition as seen in pics, but all pages are clean, undamaged, and unsoiled. There is some water damage which extends only up to page xiv (see pic). This is a collector's item well worth rebinding. Covers rubbed as expected for age. Please see pics for loose condition of binding. Text is clean and clear, no chips or rips or folds.
