This is a vintage screw cap tin of De Witt’s Antacid Powder. The curved DeWitt’s trademark was registered in 1924 and replaced by a straight line trademark in 1948. This tin of DeWitt’s Antacid Powder is from the 24 years between the two trademark registrations. The tin holds 4 oz. of powder and sold for $0.50. The tin has some rust along the seams and the lid is very securely fastened. If you collect vintage pharmaceuticals, this is a wonderful display piece.

This is a vintage cosmetic product, Black and White Beauty Bleach, marketed by Plough of Memphis, Tennessee and New York. The black and white graphic was registered with the US Trademark office in 1917 with two variations registered between 1917 and 1924. This product was sold as a bleach for freckles, tan and discolorations. At least one source comments that it was used to bleach darker skinned people to the then more desirable “white” skin tone. The packaging consists of a painted metal screw cap top on a milk glass container.
