C1910 Dewee's Carminative Opium Label
2 1/2" wide vintage Dewee's Carminative opium label. Says it contained .46 grs. per fl oz. and 6.5% alcohol. Incredibly, it lists doses for babies from one week old to 6 months old. It was supposed to be used to calm them down. There was a big crackdown on these types of products around that time because babies would get addicted to the opium and sometimes die from withdrawal when it was not longer given. Circa 1910s. Unused stock from an old drugstore in Shreveport, LA.
