Circa: 1940s
Size: 14" long
Country of Origin: United States
Manufacturer: Ownes-Illinois Glass Co

Glass Rolling Pin by Owens-Illinois Glass Co. with one open end and one closed end. Probably make for Jewel Tea Company. There is a screw-on lid, make of either bakelite or plastic. It is the original, and it dates from the 1940s. It’s 14" long, Around the edge of the closed end are 3 numbers – 2, 2, and 9. Homemakers would fill the pin with ice or cold water to keep from overworking the piecrust and making it tough. Inside are vintage buttons from my mother’s button collection which she started around 1940. I’m not a button collector, so have not examined them closely.
