| Beswick Dog Asleep on Drum, Model 812, is from the Beswick Comical Animals and Birds line. It dates from around 1940, and does have some crazing, but no chips. It has a sticker showing that it was sold at Niagara Falls, Canada. On the base is the oval Beswick stamp, along with the incised #812, and what look to be painter marks. Hard to find, it is not listed in my copy of the Charlton Standard Catalogue of Beswick Animals. Nor is it shown in the 1994 limited edition catalog of Beswick. It is described, however, in the Beswick Price Guide of Harvey May where is lists for $70 to $80. My price is half of the low – or $35. |
