Click for more detail...
3948
Rare Natural Antique Museum Quality Ornate Victorian Photographer's Divan This is a very rare, museum quality Victorian photographer's divan. It has an asymetrical design. The crest is a serpentine roll that flows from the arm across the back, tapering and ending in a curlicue. The back is elaborate with ribbons and loop designs and fancy beadwork that gives the piece an oriental look. Victorian wicker pieces that retain their original green and natural finishes are rare and highly collectible. The reeds and beads were dyed prior to weaving. The cane seat is original. The post that supports the curlicue has fancy reedwork applied over the cane wrapping. The stretcher is cane wrapped and the cabriole legs have fancy cane wrapping and are adorned with beads and curlicues ending in brass caps. This wonderful Victorian photographer's divan retaining its original natural and green finish and its Heywood Bros. and Co. paper label. A piece of this rarity almost never reaches the marketplace. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a museum quality Victorian wicker photographer's divan in excellent original condition and finish.
