This is a rare and wonderful fancy Victorian wicker fernery with birdcage. The fernery has interesting weave pattern changes. It has a shapely design with 2 compartments and a flat center surface with gallery edge that could hold a fishbowl, as it was originally intended or it could hold a plant. The hoop is cane wrapped, adorned with curlicues that form hearts topped with loop designs.The base has latticework panels on the sides and ends in wood turned feet. The wicker birdcage has a hinged door that opens and the original removable metal bottom pan. Circa 1920's. Attributed to Heywood Bros. and Wakefield Co. Height-63" Width-35 1/2" Depth-12"
