This is a rare and ornate Victorian reception chair. The designs throughout this chair are elaborate and pleasing. The back consists of fancy panels of reedwork, curlicues, cross-hatching, beadwork and birdcage designs. This wonderful chair is heavy and very substantial. It has a shapely, set in cane seat. The front skirting is long and shapely with a fancy panel of beadwork and cross-hatching. The splayed legs are cane wrapped and adorned with curlicues ending in brass caps. This is a very fine example of a rare Heywood Brothers and Company wicker chair with label. Circa 1880's. |
