Circa: 1880's Condition: Excellent Condition Size: Height-27" Width-15" Depth-11" Manufacturer: Wakefield Rattan Co. This is a rare and adorable little sewing stand. This piece has elaborate rattan work throughout. One of the most appealing qualities of this early Victorian wicker sewing stand is the rare and fancy overlay of rattan which gives the piece added texture. There are woven mattings in the sewing boxes. The top is hinged with a wire mechanism. The top is decorated with reed-work and curlicues. The sewing boxes are both decorated with gothic style stick-work and scalloped reed-work overlay. Original carrying handle. This piece has one coat of old paint (bone color) with some paint loss. The cane wrapped corner posts form splayed legs which are framed with fancy scalloped reed-work.
