This is an ornate antique Victorian natural beaded wicker sewing stand. The top is hinged with overall flat weaving framed by braiding and decorated with a beaded panel of ribbon and loop designs. The sides are very shapely with a matching beaded panel of ribbon and loop designs framed by braiding. The basket is large and roomy. Below the sides are curlicue supports and wood turned posts followed by an open basket bottom. The sides are very shapely with a ribbon and loop design. Curlicue supports attach to splayed wood turned legs. The handle has cane wrapping. The wooden knob is original. The finish is a very nice original honey natural color. This sewing stand retains the original Heywood Bros. and Wakefield Co. label. Circa 1890's.
