Vintage c.1930's-40's Chimayo Blanket-Child's?
Vintage c.1930's-40's Chimayo (New Mexico) Native American/Hispanic Mexican small blanket, either meant to be a wall hanging or small child's blanket. 19 inches x 19 inches square. Fringes are intact on both ends. No repairs. Colors are natural white wool, red, gray, black and purple. No spirit line openings. There are a few thread ends(I don't know how else to describe it) which have pulled up but could easily be fixed if desired by a reputable textile conservator or good drycleaner. Has some areas of light surface dirt from storage which could be cleaned but I don't want to try it. No fading. Otherwise mint condition! It even has the original sales tag-blue oaktag with an illustration of A Chimayo Weaver at His Loom, and other side reads Chimayo Blanket, guaranteed all wool handwoven, native weavings of the Southwest, size 20x20, mfr.1685, price $2.50.
