This category includes crystal and colored glassware with accents, edges, ribs, designs in white opalescent glass. Sometimes also with gilded accents. Some of this was produced as Northwood Glass Co. did, beginning in 1897, by applying bone ash chemicals to some areas while a piece was hot and then refiring at extremely high temperature. Makers included Fenton, Dugan and others.

Fry Glass Co., Rochester, Pa., introduced this in 1916-17.
