ABC Refrigeration Thermometer, Marshalltown
An early Marshalltown business, A.B.C. REFRIGERATION offered Sales and Service from offices at 9 East State Street, Marshalltown, Iowa. Phone numbers at the time this was printed were only four digits – 4608 and 2340.

The company was ‘authorized retailer for Frigidaire commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.’

This early thermometer, measuring 3 inches wide by 11 inches long, was used for many years to monitor the temperature in some of that equipment in our store. It’s seen some wear – the paint is chipped in some places on the front and rust spots are showing. The mercury in the thermometer remains inside, but has separated. Still, a nice piece of memorabilia! (6426)

Iowa State Cyclones, CY Glass
Here’s an old-fashioned glass with the logo of the IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY on one side, and the school’s mascot, ‘CY’ the Cyclone on the opposite side. Cy’s colors are bright cardinal and gold; the logo is in black on the clear glass.

1982 GROUCHY Smurf Tumbler
‘I HATE MUSIC’ is the sign carried by GROUCHY SMURF as his friends play their horn, guitar and drums nearby. The tumbler is marked with a 1982 copyright by Peyer Co., and, as we remember, was used as a promotion by Hardee’s Hamburgers restaurant.

It's made of glass and measures about 3.75 inches tall with a 3.5 inch diameter base that’s marked Made in USA.

PORK Brains Vintage Meat Box
It’s hard to imagine that many of the food products sold in our store and others were delivered in real wood boxes -- but here’s another good example – and one you probably won’t see very often.

It held Five Pounds of Pork Brains, with that stamped on one side and a USDA Inspection sticker still attached to the end.

Most of these were processed by Armour Foods, Chicago Ilinois, and they're quite a conversation-starter! The box measures 10.5 long; 10 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep.

There are no stains and no other serious defects -- the crate in Very Good condition and will look great when cleaned and varnished! (6037)

Hanson HANDY Taps, Drills and Dies
Developed as a reference card for determining Tap Drill Sizes for Commercial Threads, this 3.5 by 5.25 inch card provides the machine screw standards, US standard and automobile standard for a number of thread sizes.

On the back is an advertisement for HANDY Taps, Drills and Dies manufactured by Henry L. Hanson, Worcester, MA.

The card has some minor folds and slight edge/corner wear, but is still complete, readable and collectable. It was probably produces in the 1920s era. (4997)

Rockwood Bases for Small Motors
These ‘Simple, Compact, Inexpensive Bases for Small Motors Insure Efficient, Trouble-free Drive Performance,’ according to this 1930s-40s brochure from J. E. Rhoads & Sons, Chicago, advertising its line of Rockwood Short Center Flat Belt Drives.

The 3.75 by 11 inch folder opens to 8.5 by 11 inches and both illustrates and describes the bases, with a dimension table to show available sizes and a lengthy list of suggestions for application.

If you collect heavy tool or machinery data, this is probably a great addition to your collection! Condition is Very Good with only some very slight edge/corner wear. (5004)

The book is in Good condition, although it shows some use. The first 30 days of January have been removed. The final 3 days of the year show some pencil notations. Covers are a bit worn on the edges, but still complete and tightly bound. (6430)
