Iowa State Cyclones, CY Glass
Here’s an old-fashioned glass with the logo of the ‘IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY’ on one side, and the school’s mascot, ‘CY’ the Cyclone on the opposite side. Cy’s colors are bright cardinal and gold; the logo is in black on the clear glass.
The glass measures 4 inches tall with a 3.5-inch diameter top opening. It’s in AS NEW condition with no apparent defects! (6359)

Antique Neon Sign: CIGARETTES, Marshalltown
This is the neon sign advertising CIGARETTES that has shown in one of the large front windows of our store since sometime in the 1950s. It measures 42 inches wide, with 5 inch tall letters. Despite its age, the sign still glows brightly and the transformer and other equipment needed are included in this lot. Other neon signs flank it, spelling out the store’s name: ‘North St.’ and ‘Food Market.’
We will not attempt to pack and ship this item – it must be picked up in Marshalltown at a time to be arranged. (6029)

ABC Refrigeration Thermometer, Marshalltown
An early Marshalltown business, A.B.C. REFRIGERATION offered Sales and Service from offices at 9 East State Street, Marshalltown, Iowa. Phone numbers at the time this was printed were only four digits – 4608 and 2340. The company was ‘authorized retailer for Frigidaire commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.’
This early thermometer, measuring 3 inches wide by 11 inches long, was used for many years to monitor the temperature in some of that equipment in our store. It’s seen some wear – the paint is chipped in some places on the front and rust spots are showing. The mercury in the thermometer remains inside, but has separated. Still, a nice piece of memorabilia! (6426)

IR&P Co. Wringer Washer Aid
Remember the early wringer washing machines, when you had to dive deep into the hot water to bring up the item of clothing you were ready to run through the wringer? We used a cut-off broom stick to swirl through the water and find the items to be brought out. Yet, more exotic aids were available for saving your arms and hands from being burnt in the hot water – among them was this wonderful device called the Auto Matic Built Washer tool!
Measuring 17.75 inches long and fastened at one end with a wire lever device, the two wood sticks made the job much safer! And this particular tool was given to 1920s-30s women as a sales promotion for the IOWA RAILWAY AND LIGHT COMPANY, 119 East Main St., Marshalltown, Iowa. We apologize – there is more information imprinted into the handle, but we’re unable to read it!
This is in Very Good condition, with some wear on the wood and a few stains from what appears to be very old soap scum! But the lever works fine … and this unusual piece of laundry equipment is a neat piece of memorabilia of this early Marshalltown company that ran the city’s trolley car system! (6434)

Decorative Milky Way Bars Tin
Forty snack-size MILKY WAY SNACK BARS were packed in this pretty commemorative tin distributed by Mars Inc., candy maker. With views of the candy bar itself on the front and back, the sides featured vintage ads for the ‘Thick Milk Chocolate, Creamy Caramel, Fluffy Chocolate Nougat’ product.
The tin measures 6 inches diameter, 7.5 inches tall. It’s complete with its lid and has no apparent defects, inside or out! (6436)

Patriotic red, white and blue stars and stripes with the words ‘ALL AMERICAN SPORTS FAN’ appear on the side of this neat mug. It’s marked AVON, c 1983, and another heavyweight for drinking whatever you choose!

KFJB Radio Cooking School, Marshalltown
Sponsored by Radio Station KFJB, Marshalltown, Iowa, the Rhapsody of Recipes cookbook provides a written reminder of the Cooking School held there in October, 1956. Inside are beef, veal, pork, lamb, sausage, and canned meat, as well as cake, cookie and pastry recipes. The centerfold shows full-page views of the wholesale and retail cuts of beef. veal, pork and lamb.
Local advertisers listed on the back cover include: United Fruit, Bob’s Feed and Supply, Vas Paint and Wallpaper, Winters Dairy, Superior Supertane, Strand Baking, Sawyer Biscuit, Smith-Herzog Sewing, Smitty’s Super Valu, Montgomery Ward, Midwest Floral, McGregor Furniture, Lander-Landon, John Hise & Son, Iowa Electric Light and Power, Climalene and Coca-Cola Bottling.

Chamber of Commerce Coffee Mug
Here’s a very nice looking mug marked with the logo of the MARSHALLTOWN AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AMBASSADORS CLUB. This group visited and welcomed new businesses to the community.
The heavy porcelain mug is painted a glossy black, with gold rim and design. It measures 4.25 inches tall with a 3.25 inch diameter base. It’s in AS NEW condition with no apparent defects. (6432)

Armour Meats Crate
We don't know what the product was that came in this neat little box, but it was used by ARMOUR AND COMPANY, GENERAL OFFICES CHICAGO, ILLINOIS and that name is stamped on the crate. On one end is the paper inspection label of the USDA.
The box measures 11.25 inches long; 11 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep. It's in Very Good condition with some soil and stains inside. Most can be cleaned to have a nice old store collectable! (6186)

1982 GROUCHY Smurf Tumbler
‘I HATE MUSIC’ is the sign carried by GROUCHY SMURF as his friends play their horn, guitar and drums nearby. The tumbler is marked with a 1982 copyright by Peyer Co., and, as we remember, was used as a promotion by Hardee’s Hamburgers restaurant.
The glass measures 5.75 inches tall with a 2.5-inch diameter top opening. It’s in AS NEW condition with no apparent defects! Price is for one glass. (6370)
