Health Insurance: U.S., Norway, Britain
Announced as the ‘first single volume to deal comprehensively with the health insurance and health care systems of three nations: Norway, Great Britain and the United States’, this is MEDICAL CARE AND FAMILY SECURITY. Written by three physicians who provide analyses of the contrasting systems of medical care in their own areas of the world, it was published in 1963 by Prentice-Hall, Englewood Cliffs NJ.
The authors are: Karl Evang, Director-General of Health Services of Norway, where nationalized health insurance has existed since 1911. Citizens receive total health care, from cradle to grave; D. Stark Murray, Kingston Hospital, England, who explains the successful National Health Service of Great Britain, established in 1948; and Walter J. Lear, former Associate Medical Director for the Health Insurance Plan of New York. Lear traces the history of the American Health Insurance movement, evaluates federally proposed plans and prescribes remedies for inadequate health insurance programs. The information, although somewhat dated, does provide interesting insight into problems that remain unsolved today.
The 344-page hardbound book is in Very Good condition, although it is ex lib with the usual library markings. Covers show some minor edge wear. Inside pages show no apparent defects. The accompanying dust jacket is protected with a Mylar covering. (5707/r13)

In the 355 pages are 188 illustrations and detailed information on the urinary and genital tracts of the male and the urinary tract of the female.
