Considered by some to be the finest novel ever written about an alien invasion, this is FOOTFALL, written by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle and published in this hardbound FIRST EDITION in 1985 by the Del Rey division of Ballantine Books, New York. It was a finalist for the Hugo Award for Best Novel.
The war of indescribable violence and incredible destruction begins when men first see the invader as a series of dots on astronomical plates. Proceeding from Saturn directly toward earth, the invaders didn't respond to mankind's frantic signals.
First contact came when the aliens blasted the Soviet space station and seized the survivors … then went on to descend on Kansas and demand servile surrender or death for all humans. The outcome is in doubt until the final page!
