San Juan Capistrano Mission, Souvenir Folder
This vintage folder, probably from the 1930s-40s, features ten fantastic postcard views of the MISSION OF SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – CALIFORNIA!

The cards are ‘C. T. Photocolorit’ and were distributed by Western Publishing & Novelty Co., Los Angeles. The stamp box notes that postage for the folder would be 1.5 cents and the linen cards are perforated for removal.

Cards included here are Campanario, Stone Church and Garden; Mission Garden; Old Chapel Arches; Altar in Serra Chapel; Campanario and Sacred Garden; East Corridor; Front Corridor; Vestibule of Serra Church; The Patio and Spanish Garden; and Front Corridor.

The Mission, in Orange County, was founded in 1776 by Father Junipero Serra and contains the oldest church building in the state. It was established for the purpose of civilizing the Indians and teaching them Christian religion.

The materials used in construction include boulders, adobe, sandstone, iron, mortar, tile and raw-hide – all of which are shown in beautiful combinations here!

The folder is in Good+ condition, with no defects at all on the cards inside. The covers show some edge/corner wear and have a small tear on the flap which closes the set. All in all, though, it’s a great one! (4654)
